About Female Pattern Baldness

Female pattern baldness can begin as early as the late teens to early 20s in women who have experienced early puberty. If left untreated, this hair loss can progress. If your mother, grandmother or any aunt has thin hair it is very likely that you have female pattern baldness. You still may have female pattern baldness even if you cannot find another woman in your family with thinning hair. If you are experiencing female pattern baldness, visit our Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire offices.

You are not alone - one in every four women has the hereditary condition female pattern baldness, and it is not a pleasant situation. I truly understand.

Hair loss after childbirth is also normal; however, this is not female pattern baldness. If you do have female pattern baldness, however, it is common to have less hair grow back after you deliver your child. Women often see a significant thinning of their scalp hair during and especially after menopause.

I have devoted 20 years of my life specializing in treating both women and men with androgenetic alopecia. You are not alone if you are frightened by female pattern baldness and you don't understand why you are losing hair. The patterns of hair loss in women are not as easily recognizable in women as in men. Female pattern baldness is progressive. If you do nothing about your hair loss today, you WILL have less hair at the same time next year.

I offer a great deal of personal education regarding female pattern baldness to all of my patients in the Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire areas. It is obligatory for patients who are experiencing hair loss to do something to slow down its progression.

I welcome the opportunity to evaluate any woman who is concerned about female pattern baldness.

Quick Fact About Female Pattern Baldness

I feel particularly gratified in treating women with female pattern baldness. My female patients tell me how embarrassed and depressed they are about their thinning hair. They don't feel comfortable in public without a hat and they are most worried about participating in activities that will cause their hair to be windblown. They also confide in me that they are too ashamed to go to the hairdresser because others will see the extent of their hair loss.

My female patients have increased self-esteem because of their hair regrowth. What truly gives me great pleasure is facilitating their 'sense of feeling normal' again after seeking treatment for female pattern baldness with me in my Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire offices.
