Dr. Robert Leonard to Address 35th Annual ‘First Event 2016’

New England’s Foremost Authority on Hair Restoration Discusses the Transformation of Hair as “Final Touch” for Transgenders at Boston Conference

Boston, Massachusetts (January 19, 2016) – Dr. Robert Leonard, chief surgeon and founder of Leonard Hair Transplant Associates, will address attendees of First Event 2016, the premier transgender conference of the year taking place at The Westin Waltham Boston on Saturday, January 23. New England’s foremost authority on hair restoration will discuss the transformation of hair as the “final touch” during transition, as well as the medical and surgical treatments for hair loss, and his personal approach to fulfilling the unique needs of transgender patients.

“Gender-correct hair is an important step in completing one’s new identity,” said Dr. Robert Leonard, a board-certified surgeon with more than 29 years of hair restoration experience. “A masculine hair line, bald spots, or a thinning crown can raise self-doubt even after years of work, which is why it is important to address this area.”

“Often times, an individual decides to undergo a transformation so that they do not need to feel as though they are covering up who they really are,” Dr. Leonard added. “Yet, after counseling, medical therapies, and many surgical procedures, they are left with exactly that feeling as a result of wearing hair pieces and wigs.

Dr. Leonard is a Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and a founding member and former president of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, where he presently sits on several committees.
