One year after Dr. Matthew Lopresti performed Dr. Robert Leonard’s hair transplant, the procedure had progressed to the point where the change in his hair could be clearly appreciated.
Hair transplant results develop gradually. Transplanted hairs typically shed during the weeks following surgery before the follicles enter their normal growth cycle. Early new hair growth generally begins around five to six months after the procedure, with increasingly noticeable cosmetic change developing around nine to twelve months.
Hair transplant results continue to mature well beyond the first year. Final maturation can take approximately 16 to 18 months, which is why evaluating a hair transplant too early does not provide a complete picture of the final result.
Dr. Leonard’s one-year follow-up demonstrated how transplanted hair can be styled and worn naturally as the result continues to mature.
