Professional hair stylist Sean Pearson shows off new hair

Sean underwent Follicular Unit Excision, or FUE, hair transplant surgery performed by Dr. Matthew Lopresti using ARTAS robotic technology, which is no longer offered by Leonard Hair Transplant Associates.
Sean Pearson knows hair. As a professional hair stylist in Worcester, Massachusetts, he works with hair every day. But in his twenties, Sean began noticing progressive thinning of his own.
His clients began noticing it too.
“What’s worse,” Sean said, “was that I was standing in front of a mirror all day, every day, watching my hair disappear.”
As a stylist, Sean knew how to part and style his hair to make the thinning less noticeable. His hair loss still bothered him enough that he would wait until the salon closed to cut his own hair so others would not see it.
Sean also recognized a family history of hair loss, including a bald uncle and a father experiencing thinning. After trying non-surgical approaches, Sean decided to investigate hair transplant surgery.
“I knew right away what I needed and wanted, which was hair replacement surgery,” Sean said.
“Sean was very eager to have hair transplantation, and after our initial consultation, we concluded that he was an ideal candidate,” Dr. Matthew Lopresti said.
Sean underwent FUE hair transplant surgery with Dr. Lopresti in April 2016, concentrating on the central frontal area. The procedure used ARTAS robotic technology, a method offered by the practice at that time.
Eighteen months later, Sean was pleased with the change.
“I saw results very quickly and am now proud to say, 18 months later, that I have a full head of hair. New clients don’t believe me when I tell them I had a hair transplant,” Sean said.
Sean also continued using non-surgical treatment to help manage progression of his non-transplanted hair.
“As far as the surgery itself, I can honestly say it did not hurt at all. Not before, during, or after. In fact, I went shopping at the mall the day I had it done,” Sean noted.
Reflecting on his experience with Dr. Leonard and Dr. Lopresti, Sean said, “They did not overpromise. They were direct and honest, and did what they said they were going to do. I cannot express how pleased I am with the entire process.”
Today, Dr. Matthew Lopresti serves as Chief Hair Restoration Surgeon at Leonard Hair Transplant Associates and performs both FUE and FUT hair transplant surgery for appropriate candidates.
